Outside the Pyrotechnic Arms

So anyway, this tree sits outside the Pyrotechnicists Arms (of which, more later), see photo earlier, at the East end of Nunhead Green. I tried looking in my limited numberof books about trees but I can't get a sensible answer yet. I will ask around, but an informative comment would help.

Not sure (not a lot of scale in the picture and the leaves look a bit long) but that might be a *Catalpa bignoides* AKA Indian bean tree. Next time I'm over there I'll look at it.

If it was that it would have rather large papery leaves, pretty peaflowers on upright stalks in spring (though not as pretty as a *Robinia*) and long bean pods (inedible) for fruit.

I'll have a look next time I'm round there.
