Gray and Purple

We tend to refer to this new building at the Elephant as Barad-dur in our house (although in reality Ken started that - or was it Dave?).  We don't really like it, despite the windmills on the top, which we are sure are there for some nefarious purpose.
It is a gray building against a gray sky, looming over one of the least attractive parts of South London (according to Sir John Betjeman).  Clean lines and a menacing shape.

By comparison, here is a picture from Nunhead.  Purple and completely at a kilter - clearly just knocked together in a rush with a slap of random paint.  Not designed that way.  Even the parking restriction sign can't help but hold itself at a jaunty angle.  Purple and jolly, and highly temporary - just covering up a building site.  But somehow much, much more fun.
