The Pubs Around Nunhead: 7

The 'What to call it this week?' at 57 Nunhead Lane
What to say about this pub?  Well, first off, it is now a relatively expensive Pizza place called La Costa Smeralda - in the front bar at least; the back bar seems unused.  Not that impressed by the food either.

Before that it was the Village Inn,
before that The Duke,
before that the Page 2 Cafe Bar,
and before that the Edinburgh Castle.

Like a school that fails repeatedly and has been through multiple fresh starts (and name changes), each different name this pub has had signifies, I think, that something went wrong - and a change in approach, manager, whatever was needed.

An ex-Trumans pub from the '30s (classic A. E. Sewell apparently). Trumans brewery closed in 1988.

It is very orange at present.

Tried to book a table and ask prices of food but met with a really really rude waitress who didn't want to help - as a result didn't go
